Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Somatic Auditory Visual Intellectually (SAVI) learning model on students’ critical thinking skills in science subjects among fifth-grade students at SDN Gugus 5 Cakranegara during the 2018/2019 academic year. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sampling technique used was random sampling, with data collected through tests and observations. The test measured students’ critical thinking ability, while observations assessed the implementation of the learning process. Data analysis using a t-test showed that the post-test average score in the experimental class was 67.5, compared to 60.9 in the control class. The t-test result was 2.62, which is greater than the t-table value of 2.00 at a 5% significance level, indicating that H₀ is rejected and Hₐ is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the SAVI learning model positively influences students' critical thinking skills in science learning.
